Charles Peale: Pieced Together

From the Artist:

I received a BFA from Philadelphia College of Art in 1974.

Co-founded Eden Glassworks, and blew glass for seven years in West Virginia.

Free-lance illustrator from 1979 to present day. Clients include: Newark Star-Ledger, Washington Post (Magazine and Style section), Children’s Television Network, USPS, UVA, Daily Progress, C’Ville Weekly, McCall’s Magazine.

Joined McGuffey Art Center in 2015, juried in with collages. Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship in 2016.

I have showed my collage pieces in various venues, both group shows and solo. McGuffey, Second Street, D’Art Center in Norfolk, and PVCC.

My subject matter reflects my experience in a life influenced by my exposure to comic books, nature, movies, and early television. I want each collage to say to the viewer, “step in closer.”
