Charles Peale was born in Philadelphia. He studied painting, photography and film at the Philadelphia College of Art. He worked for several years as a glass- blower in the deep green mountains of West Virginia. He was one of the original founders of the Ten Flavors Studios, a group of illustrators, artists and designers in the heart of downtown Charlottesville, Virginia. As a free-lance illustrator he has worked for the Washington Post, the Newark Star-Ledger, the USPS, the Children’s Television Workshop, National Geographic, McCall’s magazine and other publications. He is currently an associate member of the McGuffey Art Center.

Awarded a professional Fellowship Award from VMFA 2015-2016.
