In Blake Hurt’s own words, “This collection of recent works is the result of experiments in effectively seeing and painting the landscapes of room interiors and their occupants. The sharper contrasts, the mental overlay of the viewers' expectations of the familiar and the radical distortions of indirect lighting of these images emphasizes the required different sensibility than that of traditional landscapes. These paintings should thus be regarded as an interim report of that new direction.”
