In the Shell: Midterm Works by McGuffey Incubator Artists
Featuring dozens of new works by artists from the McGuffey Incubator Program, an annual studio residency in support of emerging artists. The show includes paintings, photographs, textiles, and mixed media works made by the 2017-18 class of six Incubators: Alison Rose Berner, Daniella Chadwick, Jolene Dosa, Andrea Echeverri-Gent, Preston P. Jackson, and Heather Owens.
Established in 2014, McGuffey Art Center's annual Incubator Program invites six artists selected from across the country to attend a year-long studio residency. The program is designed to offer emerging artists an affordable space to work in a building, surrounded by established artists who embrace collaboration and the open studio format.
The Incubator Program seeks to support these future professional artists through mentorships, engagement in critiques, as well as offering them an opportunity to participate in the duties of the full association. Successful applicants are expected to show in a final presentation of Incubator artists in a summer exhibition.
