To See and Be Seen, To Know and Be Known:
Portraits of Resilience
Charlottesville Resilience shines a light on the resilience-of-spirit displayed by residents of Charlottesville who have endured hidden, day-to-day lives of real hardship and trauma, to unveil their human spirit and to get to know them better, in hopes of bridging the gap of misunderstanding and empathy. Join us for an Artist Talk on Sunday, February 18th, at 2PM in the Sarah B. Smith Gallery.
Jeff Thruston: Vinyl Landscapes
This exhibit showcases a series of multicolored silkscreens of Charlottesville landscapes printed on old vinyl album covers.
New Works by Jill Kerttula and Lorie McCown
Two artists collaborate in this show of innovative new work in fiber and mixed media where subjects are stitched into stories and told with fabric and collage.
Marcia Mitchell: Flora
Marcia Mitchell specializes in watercolors and oils of plants and flowers. All of her art is painted directly from the living plant material, much of which she grows in her garden.
World Art Exhibit
The World Art Exhibit features drawings by 33 refugees of all ages from 15 countries, all of whom now live, work and study in the Charlottesville area. This show is the manifestation of local IRC volunteer Susan Patrick’s passion for creating art and helping newcomers adapt to life in the United States.
