The Bonnet Maker
For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. – Corinthians 11:6 (KJV)
The Bonnet Maker is a series of live photographs conceptualized and installed to tell the narrative of an Old German Baptist Brethren woman (based on Rochelle’s great grandmother) and her process of leaving the old order plain culture. As she moves through her journey, the Bonnet Maker removes her bonnets–metaphorically and physically. Soon she uncovers the woman she had secreted away from community and self. These photographs document the initial phase of her self discovery. The project will continue with her emergence into the modern world.
A Night at the Opera
Dominique Anderson painted two separate sets of murals for the local restaurant, Escafe, which was forced to go out of business in February, 2018. The first mural, Escafe Opera I, completed in the late 1990's, consisted of ten 5' x 4' panels (50 feet of mural) that consisted of various local patrons and employees of the restaurant. The second project, Escafe Opera II, was completed in 2015 and was organized as two separate murals of two panels each. A number of well know local musicians appear in Opera II. When the restaurant closed down, the individual mural panels were sold to former friends and patrons of the restaurant. They have all been assembled for this final showing of this work of art in its original mural arrangement
