Kids Art Camp
with Ann Cheeks and Rebekah Wostrel
at the McGuffey Art Center


This is a fun, creative mixed media art experience for
ages 7–12 and 13–17. Students will be encouraged to explore their
creativity through drawing, pottery, and mixed media sculpture.
Artists Ann Cheeks and Rebekah Wostrel will work in
collaboration to give students the opportunity to try it all,
have fun and make lots of cool stuff!

Session I: June 23–27, 1:30–4:30 Ages 7–12
Session II: June 30–July 4, 10:00–1:00 Ages 7–12
Session III: July 7–11, 1:30–4:30 Ages 13–17

Cost: $190 (includes all materials)

Kids Old Master Portrait Painting

Summer Art Camp At McGuffey Art Center
With Artist Juli Godine


Come and learn how to copy a famous portrait in acrylic on canvas. You will learn how to:
· Use a grid system to copy/enlarge the portrait
· About proportions and facial features
· Do an underpainting
· Mix skin tone colors

Ages 10 and up $185.00 plus some materials

Treehouse Summer Camp

This camp takes place in an enchanting, wooded two-acre garden
one mile from UVA. Tree-shaded rooms, swings and a treehouse provide a safe environment for children to explore their natural creativity.

Two one-week summer camp sessions.
Choose one or both


Session I
Treehouse Book Arts Camp (ages 8-14)
June 16-20, 10 am-3:30 pm

o Make handmade paper from natural materials you harvest from the garden
o Bind a small book by hand
o Try your hand in the art of calligraphy
o create poems, paste grain papers, weathergrams
o visit UVA's rare books library to see and touch ancient manuscripts
$250 for the week

Session II
Treehouse Garden Camp (ages 7-12)
June 23-27, 10am-3:30pm

o Keep your own sketchbook of flowers and animals you paint in the garden
o Learn how to draw in perspective
o Make Chinese "weathergrams" to display in the woods
o Design outdoor garden spaces and fairy houses
o Create pan gardens
o Make miniature flower arrangements and nature crafts
$250 for the week
