Judy McLeod

WANTED WOMEN

These women are currently, or have been, fugitives from the law in New Orleans, LA from August, 2000 to the present. Judy McLeod paints these 90" x 110" mug shots using Police and Bail Bondsmen's advertisements as sources. Working from tiny black and white newspaper photos, artist Judy McLeod asserts artistic interpretations and empathy in painting these likenesses. These women are accused of various crimes and have failed to appear in court. The crimes of which they are accused are not published information.

Judy McLeod joined the McGuffey Art Center in 1976 and has since worked and exhibited there continuously.

Judy McLeod has had exhibitions of drawings, paintings, and works on paper at numerous galleries and museums. She has taught at
Virginia Commonwealth University, Charlottesville City Schools, the University of Virginia, Northern Virginia Center, School of Continuing Education, and Curry School of Education.
